Ligue 1 action finally returns to le Vélodrome, where OM will look to avenge the early 2-0 loss to Guingamp in August this season. The season has not gone well for either team, with Guingamp sitting at 19th place with 19 points. Don’t be reassured, as OM is sitting now at 12th (game in hand) with only 6 points more. With OM struggling immensely at home, this is , like all games at this point, a must-win.
EA Guingamp 2-0 OM highlights from earlier in the season
OM is struggling with several injuries to key players. However, I honestly don’t see it as a bad thing. The team has under-performed this year, and I think seeing more players in action could help increase competitiveness. Four youth academy products are in the group (Porsan-Clemente, Dacosta, Lopez, Rabillard) and I want them to play. The only way youth players will improve is with experience, and one of them may seize his chance and earn more playing time.
Guingamp will look to draw OM into a physical game. With OM still having extremely talented players, dragging the play and speed of the game down while countering will work in Guingamp’s favor. The last time they played OM, they countered well and took their chances, scoring 2 goals. With OM still struggling to find consistent play in defense, this will be a tough game. Allez l’OM !
